AMREF Flying Doctor Service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year through its control centre located at Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Highly qualified medical staff and aircrew are on standby to respond to emergencies.
AMREF own and operate a fleet of aircraft, which can be converted into airborne intensive care units, using modern medical equipment.
The Flying Doctors provide air rescue service to members as well as non members and carry out charity flights to those underprivileged people in East Africa, who are in need of medical care but unable to pay.
As a vital link between remote areas and the control centre, AMREF has established a radio network that is comprised of over 100HF radio stations, making it the largest two-way radio network in Africa.
