Me and My Net - let's talk about malaria
There are around 500 million cases of malaria every year, resulting in up to one million deaths.
These deaths are easily prevented, and providing mosquito nets is the simplest way to beat the disease at its root.
Me and My Net was launched by the Royal Commonwealth Society to create awareness of the worldwide impact of malaria. Sponsored by Olyset Net, Me and My Net is designed to involve young people in the debate on the global challenge of malaria through discussion and creativity.
Their website features an online blog where participants can learn more about the disease and share ideas about how we can best prevent malaria. Me and My Net have also launched a competition which invites under 18s to explore the importance of using bed nets creatively through writing, film and photography.
The winning entrants to the competition will receive fantastic prizes, including a camera and books, and the overall winner will enjoy a trip to London to attend the Commonwealth Day Observance in March 2012.
The closing date for the Competition is Friday 28 October 2011. To find our more and to enter the competition visit the Me and My Net website or the RCS Youth Facebook page.
