AMREF and GSK 'run for good' at Dorney Lake
On Saturday 17th September, AMREF was one of eight charities chosen by GSK to benefit from their annual ‘Run For Good’ event at the 2012 Olympic rowing venue, Dorney Lake.
AMREF's partnership with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has spanned over 20 years and has a depth and breadth of work that both organisations are extremely proud of.
This partnership has included projects tackling malaria and HIV/AIDS in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda as well as the hugely successful PHASE methodology. PHASE has improved hygiene and sanitation for thousands of schoolchildren across Africa and is now being adopted into the school curriculum by African governments.
GSK employees, their friends and families, plus AMREF staff and friends, ran between 2.5km and 10km, and every GSK employee who participated will be eligible to apply for a GSK ‘Making a Difference’ award to win £500 for their chosen charity. The run also proved a great opportunity for AMREF to meet and engage GSK employees. Check out our Facebook page to see our photos of the event.
